The easiest way is rename GinaDLL. Done. You don’t need backup or delete it.

To Katie — I have the same lack of an “edit” button. I found my option under Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility>Wireless Networks>properties — you’ll find the “authenticate” checkbox at the bottom.

Unfortunately Donoho’s solution didn’t work for me, as my box was already unselected. I’ll have to try something else.

I tried to use the DELL Specific fix posted by Donoho and under the Wireless Networks Tab I do not have an edit button. Any next steps?

If you’re logging into a active directory domain, and you’re using locally cached profiles, then unchecking “authenticate prior to login” will fix your problem. This assumes, of course, that you’ve previously logged into that computer and your domain policies allow your credentials to be cached. If not, or…. if you use mandatory profiles, then you need to use the “Regedit-Delete GinaDll” solution mentioned above. Otherwise, your wireless connection won’t be active when you attempt to login.

We have a lab full of laptops with different students logging into each laptop every day. We also use mandatory profiles and we don’t allow cached credentials, so we need the laptop to authenticate with the WAP first. For us, the solution was deleting GinaDll.

DONOHO IS TOTALY RIGHT!
u don’t need to do anything in the registry,do not need to delete any dll’s….do not need to restart also!
just uncheck the option “autenticate prior to domain logon” and that’s it…

that is because when u use domain accounts and if u need to login to a domain,or if just your computer “thinks” he needs to login to a domain,it cannot use fastswich…thats the whole problem….

Removing the GinaDLL key from the registry solved my problem and it was quick and painless. Note to self…When editing the registry, ALWAYS create a backup of the registry FIRST. LOL…
